Hair Extension

Our Most FAQ

Understandably, there is a lot to consider when you are looking and deciding whether to invest in hair extension. Factors such as the price, type of hair extension to use, the number of bonds required, the quality of the hair, and most importantly the standards of the hair technician fitting the hair, how long they will last, what upkeep you will need, etc…

This all needs careful consideration to ensure you select the best options for you. We are here to help provide you with information and to assist in helping you to navigate all these questions to eventually find the best fit for you. With this in mind, I have tried to provide you with answers to many of the questions I’m most commonly asked regarding my hair extension products and services.

Hair extensions can be broken down into two main types.

Individual hair extensions refer to methods like nano rings, micro rings, or pre-bonded extensions, where a single bundle of hairs (usually weighing between 0.5g – 1g of hair) is attached to a single small bundle of your hair. This process is repeated until there are between 100 – 200 of these little connections on your head.

Nano rings and micro rings are two methods that do not require adhesives or bonding agents to attach to your hair, and are currently the more popular methods of individual hair extensions.

Weft/tape extensions
This refers to a long weft of hair that can be attached from ear to ear across your head, creating a blanket of hair within your hairline. A weft of hair can range from 60g to 200g and is installed without adhesive.

By booking a hair consultation with one of our specialists. This will allow us to visit your property and discuss the different hair options available to you based on your hair. We work with a collection of suppliers all of which have color rings to match your hair.

We supply a range of hair to suit every budget. With hair that you should be getting 3-4 months out of, to hair that should last past a year.
However, this will also depend on how closely you follow the guidelines on aftercare, and the products you use on the hair.

Our consultations are free. This gives us a chance to work out what kind of extensions would be best suited to your hair, match you to color, and discuss aftercare. Hair extensions do require effort to look after them, meaning that you may have to adjust your daily routine slightly to get the best out of your hair.

This is different for everyone. No two heads are the same. Typically 150g is a good average full head for most, however, some people may require more and some less.

From consultation to installation, you could have new hair fitted within 2 days depending on our diary. The hair extensions should take no longer than 2.30 hours to fit.

It can typically take between 2 days to a week to source hair extensions. All the manufacturers we work with are UK based and can ship the next day.

At stylish hair extensions, we do not believe in moving hair extensions up. In doing this you are not giving that section of hair a break or a change. We do provide maintenance however our maintenance consists of removing the extensions, brushing out the natural shed that will have gathered about your connection instead of coming out in your brush, then re-applying the extensions with brand new rings if required.

Please refer to our price list for a full breakdown of our costs. Hair extension prices will vary based on the length, color, and quality of the hair you are purchasing.

Your hair will continue to grow as normal, with the hair extensions in. Slowly over time, the hair extensions will grow down as your growth comes in. At which point we will remove them, and refit them higher up. Hair extensions, as long as fitted correctly by a qualified fitter, will allow your hair to continue to grow and thrive.

Yes! However, we do advise that whilst swimming, you tie your hair up and keep it out of the water. If you do get your hair wet and choose to swim fully submerged, you do need to make sure when you come out of the water, then you shower all the water out of your hair, and blow dry it thoroughly dry on a cool setting.

All the human hair we fit is 100% human Remy hair, meaning it can be dyed. However, we use the color-matching procedure to prevent you from having to do this. And the more you subject your new hair extensions to chemical dyes, the more you will knock down their life span. Most manufacturers do not approve of their extensions being dyed.
